MONTROSE, Colo.—A runway at the Montrose airport has been closed after city engineers spotted a bulge in the airport’s main runway.

The Montrose Daily Press says aviation director Lloyd Arnold believes the damage was caused by a city bore project as part of a new sewer line project.

Because of the damage, a United flight was delayed Tuesday evening and later directed to another runway.

Airport officials say they are planning to relieve pressure on the bulge and reopen the runway, but the damage will eventually have to be repaired.
