BOULDER, Colo.—The city of Boulder has dismissed tickets issued to a father and son for allegedly violating the ban on camping in public places.

Trials were set for Thursday in the case of 47-year-old Douglas Tyler and 20-year-old Douglas Tyler Jr., but were dismissed because the two are no longer homeless. The city attorney’s office told a judge that the two have since obtained jobs and housing and have no recent history of municipal violations.

The Daily Camera reports that Boulder attorney David Harrison is glad the tickets were dismissed, but says the cases raise the question whether the camping ban is aimed at the homeless. Harrison is challenging the constitutionality of the ordinance.

City officials have said the ban on camping in public places in Boulder doesn’t target the homeless.
