The body of former Colorado Springs mayoral candidate Mitch Christiansen has been recovered from Elevenmile Reservoir, a state parks spokesman said Friday.
Christiansen’s body was found at about 6:30 a.m. Friday in 18 feet of water. He wasn’t wearing a life jacket and was pinned against rocks, according to Kevin Tobey, park manager at Elevenmile.
Rangers had been searching the reservoir for the 64-year-old since last weekend, when the body of his wife, Sue, was found near their capsized boat. Mitch Christiansen’s body was found in the same area.
The couple were reportedly participating in a fishing competition Saturday and were caught out on the water when the weather turned bad.
A memorial service for the couple will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Eastside Church of Christ, 5905 Flintridge Drive.
