Thirty-seventh Street on the east edge of Evans remains closed today, as Weld County Road and Bridge workers try to repair the damage caused by a Sunday evening crash.
Authorities closed 37th Street between 1st Avenue and County Road 43 just east of Evans after a woman lost control of her vehicle and drove off the bridge into the South Platte river.
The crash happened at about 4:15 p.m. Monday when the 1988 Honda driven by Anna Martinez, 18, went off the road and through the guard rail before coming to rest on its side in the shallow river, according to Colorado State Patrol spokesman Nate Reid.
Greeley Fire Department spokesman John Fagerberg said no one was injured. Martinez had gotten herself out of the vehicle and was waiting for authorities when they arrived. He said her dog, which had been in the car with her, was also uninjured.
Reid said police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash, and 37th Street will remain closed to allow authorities to repair the damage to the guard rail.
