Two metro-area brothers are facing felony theft charges of stealing copper wire from the lines along the railroad tracks in the high country, the Grand County Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday.

Donald Furrer, 48, of Denver and Gerald Furrer, 45, of Lakewood were arrested near Parshall last week during an attempt to steal more line shortly after midnight May 25.

They ran off when law enforcement arrived but were located via a thermal-imaging camera after they covered themselves with leaves and branches, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Both men are free on $10,000 bond each. They are accused of theft valued at more than $20,000. The Denver Post
