Lower elevation waters continue to see the highest interest, with Pueblo Reservoir leading the way, reporting good crappie, bass and wiper action. However, metro Denver residents should not overlook the black bass action at Chatfield, Aurora, Quincy and Boyd to the north. Granby, Grand Lake and Blue Mesa continue to see good lake trout action; as waters warm, expect Mackinaw to move deeper. Dillon and other high mountain waters are finally opening, providing additional high country options. Saturday and Sunday are free fishing days in the state. Expect fishing traffic to be heavier than normal as a result.
