LONGMONT, Colo.—Amgen has announced plans to eliminate 93 jobs in Longmont and 41 in Boulder, two of the biotechnology company’s manufacturing sites in Colorado.

Company spokeswoman Diana Sherman-Palmer tells the Longmont Times-Call that the cuts will be made across various departments, including manufacturing, engineering and business services. She says the cuts are permanent and the workers were offered severance pay and extended health benefits.

A total of about 890 people worked at the two plants before the reductions announced Wednesday.

Amgen officials said during a call in April that sales of its two most popular drugs, Aransep and Epogen, had fallen. Both drugs are manufactured in bulk at the Longmont plant.
