KEARNEY, Neb.—A small plane lost power after taking off from the Kearney airport but was able to return for a safe landing.

The Kearney Hub is reporting that pilot Dan Spellman took off a little after 8 a.m. Tuesday, headed back to his home in Parker, Colo., after visiting relatives in Nebraska.

Spellman says that his single-engine Cessna 172 lost power but he was able to make a turn back and glide in safely.

He says the plane’s engine is new and speculated there was a problem with the fuel connection.
