NEW YORK — Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday he was suspending state participation in a federal immigration-enforcement program.
Cuomo’s office said there was “mounting evidence” the Secure Communities program had not only failed to meet its stated goal of deporting the most serious immigrant criminals but also was undermining law enforcement and public safety.
