Contractors plan to close all lanes of traffic on Sheridan Boulevard between West 10th and West 14th avenues over the weekend so crews can complete work on the Sheridan bridge that crosses the light-rail tracks in that location.

The shutdown starts at 9 p.m. on Friday and the lanes will not be open to through traffic until 5:30 a.m. on Monday, according to RTD.

At that point, the Sheridan bridge will be in its final configuration, with two lanes in each direction and 10-foot sidewalks on each side, the Regional Transportation District said.

RTD is building the $710 million West Corridor light-rail line, which is due to open in about two years. The line will run from downtown Denver to the Jefferson County Government Center in Golden.

Construction on the Sheridan bridge over the tracks has been going on for about 15 months.
