GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper has declared this week Colorado Wine Week in honor of the nearly 100 licensed commercial wineries and wine tasting rooms in the state.

Colorado officials say wine production has increased tenfold over the last eighteen years, and the state has an estimated 120 grape growers.

Hickenlooper and Agriculture Commissioner John Salazar were visiting a couple of wine businesses to mark the week. They plan to stop at Canyon Wind Cellars in Palisade on Monday.

The governor is also hosting a Colorado Winefest reception Thursday to raise money for the Governor’s Residence Preservation Fund. Tickets are $65.
