Snowplow operators said they had to remove the most snow they have seen this late in the season for the past 30 years.
The road usually opens on Memorial Day weekend.
The latest the road has opened in the past 20 years was June 4, 1994.
The latest the road has ever opened was June 26, 1943.
Trail Ridge Road is the highest continuous paved road in the United State at more than 12,100 feet.
