FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Fort Collins police say a 22-year-old Colorado State University student is in critical condition after she was shot while walking with friends in Fort Collins near the campus.

The victim was identified as Jamie Warfield of Fort Collins.

Police said the shooting appeared to be random.

Witnesses told police the woman and several friends were walking along a street about 1:30 Monday morning when a vehicle approached them and fired.

Warfield was taken to the Medical Center of the Rockies. Spokesman Gary Kimsey said she was in critical condition.
