A judge says federal regulators’ civil complaint against a former chief financial officer and a former accountant for Qwest likely will head to trial in January or February.

The Securities and Exchange Commission’s complaint contends the way former Qwest executive Robert Woodruff, former Qwest accountant Frank Noyes and others handled certain sales in 1999 through 2001 gave investors a skewed view of the Denver-based company’s performance.
