DENVER—Gov. John Hickenlooper says he is concerned about a recently approved casino-tax break that would cut millions of dollars for community colleges and other state organizations.

The Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission approved the tax cut, which takes effect July 1.

The tax break was granted after the industry complained casinos are struggling financially because of the recession.

The Denver Post says the state Community College System and History Colorado estimate they may lose nearly $3 million a year in funding at a time when budgets are already tight.
