Helton finished a triple shy of the cycle, and his eighth home run tied his total last season. Helton, who has a shot to the make the All-Star Game, is batting .316 with 25 RBIs.

Padres starting pitcher Dustin Moseley left the game after appearing to separate his nonthrowing left shoulder with an awkward swing. He will undergo an MRI today.

Normalcy returned to Charlie Blackmon’s life Wednesday. His phone stopped ringing and he started swinging better. He delivered his first base hit in the second inning, swatting a curveball into right field.
