Rapids: Their 1-1 draw with Philadelphia last week was the third consecutive match in which they held a lead, only to settle for a draw. The Rapids have four draws in seven games after scoring first, tied with New York for the most games in MLS dropping points after scoring first. . . . Rapids have tied six consecutive (scoring five goals while conceding five) and are unbeaten in their last eight matches. . . . Rapids beat Portland in the season opener at DSG Park, scoring the first three goals in a 3-1 win. . . . Rapids defender Drew Moor has known Timbers forward Kenny Cooper since their days in Dallas youth soccer. They were teammates at FC Dallas.

Timbers: In last week’s 1-0 loss at Chivas USA, midfielder Jack Jewsbury was shut out for the first time since April 23. Jewsbury had scored a goal or recorded an assist in each of Portland’s five games in between (two goals, three assists). … Goalkeeper Troy Perkins made six saves at Chivas. “I thought he was excellent,” said Portland coach John Spencer. “I thought he pulled off two world-class saves.” … Portland has lost only once in six games at home, falling 3-2 to D.C. United on May 29.
