Chesapeake’s Ben Hunt scored the game-winner 1:07 into overtime as the Denver Outlaws fell 16-15 in a Major League Lacrosse game Saturday night at Invesco Field at Mile High. Denver had a 13-9 advantage after three quarters, but Chesapeake scored six fourth-quarter goals to send the game into extra time.
Peet Poillon led the Outlaws with four goals and an assist. Goalie Jesse Schartzman took the loss after stopping 18-of-33 shots on goal.
Denver returns to action Saturday with a road game against the Hamilton Nationals.
Evans joins DU volleyball staff.
Taylor Evans, a member of BYU’s national championship men’s volleyball team in 2004, was hired as an assistant coach for the University of Denver women’s team, head coach Beth Kuwata announced.
Evans was a volunteer assistant at Utah last season and at American University for three seasons from 2006-08.
Five tied in father-son tournament.
Five father-son teams shot an opening-round, 5-under-par 67, including past champions Jason Coffin and Dan Coffin, on Saturday in the Colorado Golf Association’s Father- Son Tournament at Haymaker Golf Course in Steamboat Springs. The Coffins were bolstered by four birdies on the back nine.
Also shooting 67 were Aaron and Nick Babl, Ben and Paul Zimmerman, Grant and Matt Porter, and Dallas Massey and James Massey.
