Shaquil Barrett, a 6-foot-2, 240-pound middle linebacker who started as a freshman for since disbanded Nebraska-Omaha, enrolled Monday in Colorado State summer school.

He will be eligible immediately this fall. Athletes do not sit out the standard transfer redshirt season is the original school drops the sport.

As a freshman on a 5-6 former Division II national power, Barrett posted 81 tackles, 11 1/2 for loss and 8 1/2 sacks. He forced three fumbles and blocked four kicks.

New CSU linebackers coach Bernard Clark was aware of Barnett when Clark was at Miami.
