A Fort Carson soldier killed in a crash in Chaffee County early Sunday has been identified as Matthew Loutsenhizer, 25.

Loutsenhizer was a passenger in a Toyota Camry driven by another Fort Carson soldier, 19-year-old Cody Katcher, that crashed about 2:30 a.m. about 23 miles west of Salida, the Colorado State Patrol said.

Katcher and a third soldier in the car, Nicholas Williams, 22, suffered minor injuries. All three were wearing seat belts, the state patrol said.

The three were headed east on Highway 50 when the car drifted in a curve, spinning around, hitting trees and flipping onto its roof when the driver tried to steer back onto the road, according to the state patrol.
