DENVER—The Denver City Council is considering an ordinance that would make it easier to own chickens and goats in the city.
The proposal would allow Denver residents to own up to eight chickens or ducks and up to two dwarf goats without having to get a zoning permit or notify the public.
Denver residents may currently own the animals if they successfully complete a permit process that requires residents to pay $100 for a permit and $50 a year for chickens and $100 for livestock.
According to the Denver Post, the proposed change would require residents to buy a one-time $20 license to own the chickens or goats.
