The Colorado Health Service Corps. last month awarded $2.5 million in loan repayments to 37 health care professionals working in underserved areas of Colorado.

The program is administered by the state Department of Public Health and Environment and grants educational loan repayments to those who agree to practice in Colorado’s medically underserved areas such as Alamosa, Lamar, Grandy or Trinidad.

Health facilities in Denver, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs and Arvada were also among those with employees who had loans repaid.

Each individual agrees to provide health care to the underserved for three years.
