Rachael Flatt, the Cheyenne Mountain High graduate and 2010 Olympian, has been reprimanded and fined for not reporting a leg injury before the World Figure Skating Championships in April, U.S. Figure Skating announced Wednesday.
Flatt competed at worlds in Moscow, then revealed she discovered a stress fracture in her leg the week before the competition. She finished 12th.
Flatt is still recovering from her injury and plans to attend Stanford this fall. She will move her training base from the World Arena in Colorado Springs to the Bay Area. John Henderson, The Denver Post
Woodard back to lead CSU swim team.
North Carolina State associate coach and former Colorado State assistant Christopher Woodard was named to the CSU swimming and diving team vacancy.
Woodard, on the Rams staff from 2000-05, succeeds his former boss, John Mattos, who officially retires next week. Since leaving CSU, Woodard was associate men’s coach and assistant women’s coach for the ACC school. Natalie Meisler, The Denver Post
Champ ousted at Senior Match Play.
Reed Myer of Denver Country Club defeated defending champion Guy Mertz of The Fox Hill Club in the round of 32 of the Colorado Golf Association’s Senior Match Play Championship at The Heritage at Westmoor in Westminster.
Myer birdied the 17th hole to pull even with Mertz, and followed by parring the 19th hole for the victory.
Hudson leaves Wyoming basketball.
Backup guard Joe Hudson is the latest player to leave the Wyoming men’s basketball team.
Hudson played in 22 games last season with one start. He averaged 2.9 points per game. Hudson was recruited by former coach Heath Schroyer with hopes that he would improve Wyoming’s shooting from 3-point range.
Hudson is the fourth player to move on since Larry Shyatt took over the Cowboys program.
