LAKE PLACID, N.Y.—USA Bobsled has hired 2002 Olympic medalist Mike Kohn as an assistant coach.
Kohn will join Brian Shimer, Todd Hays and Janis Skrastins on the U.S. staff through the 2014 Sochi Games. He was a push athlete at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games, helping Shimer drive his way to a bronze medal. Kohn eventually became a driver and retired after competing in the 2010 Vancouver Games.
Kohn has 22 years of experience as a bobsled competitor. He will officially start his coaching job July 1, and will be part of a national team camp next week at Colorado Springs, Colo.
Kohn is also a Staff Sergeant in the Virginia Army National Guard and a member of the Army World Class Athlete Program.
