Denver Mayor-elect Michael Hancock on Thursday released a list of inaugural committee co-chairs composed of members of Congress, the governor, former governors and mayors and their spouses.
Former Gov. Roy Romer and his wife, Bea, whose son Chris lost to Hancock in the mayoral runoff, are included among the co-chairs, as are current Gov. John Hickenlooper and his wife, Helen Thorpe. But former Denver Mayor Federico Peña is not.
Though Peña endorsed James Mejia before the May election and Romer in the runoff, he is not being snubbed by the incoming mayor.
Peña’s current employer prohibits him from raising or soliciting contributions, directly or indirectly, or having his name attached to fundraising for political races at the local and state levels.
“I wish the mayor-elect all the best and success,” Peña said Thursday.
