PUEBLO, Colo.—A Pueblo district judge has disqualified two expert witnesses in a trial for a man accused of trying to kill a police officer.

District Judge David Crockenberg ruled Wednesday that the Pueblo district attorney’s office failed to provide timely evidence in the case against Robert Bruce, including an expert on propane gas.

Bruce is set to go on trial July 19 after he was accused of attempting to blow up the home of Pueblo police officer Nathan Pruce in 2009.

According to the Pueblo Chieftain, Pruce found a propane tank rigged to leak gas into his Pueblo West home before he went to work.

Investigators believe Bruce was trying to keep authorities from connecting him through DNA to numerous rapes in New Mexico and Texas.
