MONTROSE, Colo.—Delta County District Attorney Don Hotsenpiller says one of his investigators got no special treatment when he was advised of domestic violence charges before the court opened for business.

Police Chief Robert Thomas said other defendants are not allowed to appear in court early and neither should 36-year-old Jason Galvin, who was advised of the charges on Wednesday.

Hotsenpiller says it’s not unusual for hearings to be held early and his office had no involvement in the judge’s decision.

Galvin, a DA’s investigator since 2008, is on paid administrative leave. He was freed Wednesday on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond.
