BOULDER, Colo.—Boulder Creek within the Boulder city limits will be off limits to inner tubes and rafts because of the high, rushing waters expected.
The ban takes effect 7 a.m. Saturday. It doesn’t apply to kayaks and whitewater canoes.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office says anyone caught tubing on the creek might be fined $50. Sheriff’s officials say they expect Silver Lake to spill over, which will increase Boulder Creek’s flow.
Tubes and other inflatable devices are prohibited on the Cache la Poudre (kash-luh-POO’-der) River in northern Colorado. Rafters are allowed, but they’re being warned of the dangers of the high water due to melting snow.
A rafter died on the Poudre Thursday.
