A kayaker died on the Eagle River today after their craft overturned in the fast, swollen river.
At 2:30 p.m., police received a call about a kayaker who flipped near the Eagle County Fairgrounds, according to a news release from the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.
The kayaker, who was on a private river trip, was pulled from the river about 1 mile downstream. The kayaker was wearing a life preserver and helmet, police said.
The kayaker’s name has not been released.
