PITTSFORD, N.Y. — Yani Tseng extended her lead Saturday at the LPGA Championship, putting the 22-year-old one round from winning her fourth major tournament.
The top-ranked Tseng shot a 5-under 67 to extend her lead to five strokes after the third round. At 13-under 203 for the tournament, Tseng leads Morgan Pressel (70) and Cindy LaCrosse (69).
Tseng has a chance to become the youngest golfer to win a fourth major tournament. Tiger Woods and Se Ri Pak were both 24 when they reached that mark.
• Fredrik Jacobson sank a 31-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to finish with a 63 at the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Conn., taking a one-shot lead after his third straight bogey-free round.
The Swede’s shot on 18 came after Bryce Molder had tied for the lead with a 38-foot birdie on No. 17. Molder finished at 15-under.
• Denver-area resident Mark Wiebe shot a 4-under 68 in the second round of the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open in Endicott, N.Y., taking a two-shot lead over John Huston (70) in a bid for his second straight Champions Tour victory.
• Mark Foster shot a 6-under 66 to lead Sergio Garcia (64) and four others by two strokes at the BMW International Open in Munich, Germany.
Kansas City extends MLS streak
KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Omar Bravo scored his first goal since mid-March, helping Sporting Kansas City run its unbeaten streak to seven games with a 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps.
• Defenders Zach Loyd and George John scored off corner kicks five minutes apart in the first half to help host FC Dallas rout the expansion Portland Timbers 4-0.
• Los Angeles forward Mike Magee played the final 47 minutes in goal and the Galaxy survived the loss of their two goalkeepers to tie the host San Jose Earthquakes 0-0.
• Brian Ching headed in his first goal of the season in the 89th minute to give the visiting Houston Dynamo a 2-2 tie with D.C. United.
• Danny Mwanga scored from 23 yards out in the 82nd minute in the host Philadelphia Union’s 3-2 comeback victory over Chivas USA.
• Alvaro Saborio scored twice in host Real Salt Lake’s 3-1 victory over Toronto FC.
Flames deal Regehr
ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Calgary Flames dealt the veteran defenseman Robyn Regehr to the Buffalo Sabres after he waived his no-trade clause, clearing space under the salary cap for the Flames to re-sign left wing Alex Tanguay to a five-year, $17.5 million contract.
The Flames sent Regehr, right wing Ales Kotalik and their second-round draft pick in 2012 to the Sabres for defenseman Chris Butler and center Paul Byron.
