DURANGO, Colo.—A teenage boy suffered hypothermia after he had to be rescued from the Animas River.

Durango fire and rescue spokesman Dave Imming says the teenager was stranded on a rock and partially submerged in the water for nearly 20 minutes on Sunday before rescuers arrived.

Imming tells the Durango Herald the youth may have jumped from a bridge that is off-limits to swimmers. The youth was not identified.

An ambulance transported the teen to Mercy Regional Medical Center.
