BOULDER, Colo.—The U.S. Forest Service says a fire in a canyon north of Boulder is believed to have started with a camp fire.
Spokeswoman Elsha Kirby said Tuesday there are no suspects. Fire managers said the fire is about 80 percent contained and restricted to about 60 acres in Lefthand Canyon.
Firefighters made progress Monday when temperatures cooled, but hotter weather and the area’s steep, rocky terrain were challenges Tuesday.
About 50 people are fighting the fire and two helicopters and two single-engine air tankers are on hand if they’re needed.
Residents of about 340 homes have been on standby to evacuate if the fire gets closer.
