The Denver Zoo put out a release Tuesday as temperatures started to climb to reassure animal lovers that the zoo’s inhabitants had the means to stay cool.
Zookeepers provide ice treats to the animals, including frozen fruit, fish-sicles (frozen fish), icicles, frozen yogurt treats and watermelon, the zoo said.
And elephants Mimi and Dolly get cool showers. On their own, the ladies wallow in the mud and throw dirt over themselves to to protect their skin form the sun.
