STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo.—Campgrounds in the Routt National Forest are opening about one month late this summer, but most hiking trails around the campgrounds remain covered with snow.
The good news is that many of the campgrounds will be open in time for the July 4 holiday weekend.
Forest Service spokeswoman Diann Ritschard tells Steamboat Today that many forest roads are closed because they are too muddy to travel.
