Various lanes on Arapahoe and Parker roads will be closed tonight as crews work to realign a new bridge and ramp.
Weather permitting, crews will realign northbound Parker Road onto the new bridge over Arapahoe Road and open the ramp from eastbound Arapahoe Road to southbound Parker Road, according to a news release from the Colorado Department of Transportation.
The ramp from eastbound Arapahoe Road to northbound Parker Road will also open Thursday morning, eliminating the triple-left turn lanes currently in place.
Motorists will have access to the ramp on the east side of the interchange from the right lane.
There will be single lane closures on eastbound Arapahoe Road and northbound Parker Road from 7 p.m. to about 1 a.m. on Thursday.
The new ramps and intersection will allow traffic on northbound Parker Road to flow over Arapahoe Road. Commuters are urged to slow down as they approach the intersection and pay attention to the directional signs.
As drivers approach Parker Road on eastbound Arapahoe Road the left lane will allow commuters to continue east on the road. The middle lane will provide access to the ramp to northbound Parker road or eastbound Arapahoe Road, and the right lane allows commuters to access the ramp to northbound Parker Road or the ramp to southbound Parker Road.
The bridge’s final realignment, that will likely take place in late July or early August, will connect southbound Parker Road to the new bridge.
The $32 million project should be completed by the end of November.
