Brighton police today released images of people suspected of vandalizing a new water park in the city just hours before its grand opening.

The vandalism happened in the early morning hours on June 17 at the Brighton Oasis water park, police said in a media release, just hours before a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Police said a surveillance camera captured six people climbing a fence into the park where the vandals put furniture into the pool and poured “an unidentified liquid” into the water before leaving.

“Concern for public safety necessitated a complete decontamination of the pool prior to the ribbon-cutting ceremony that morning because of the unknown liquid the suspects put into the pool,” police said.

A cash reward is being offered for information leading to convictions of the vandals.

Anyone with information on the incident, or on possible suspects, is asked to call Officer Francisco Alba at 720 685-7301. People can also leave information on the Graffiti-Stoppers Tip Line, 303 655-2399.

Tipsters can remain anonymous.
