DENVER—Colorado lawmakers are taking another look at same sex marriage after New York legalized it.

The sponsors of Colorado’s civil-unions bill, Sen. Pat Steadman and Rep. Mark Ferrandino, both gay Denver Democrats, plan to try again next year after a similar bill died this year in the Colorado Legislature.

House Speaker Frank McNulty says Colorado Democrats want to use the bill as a wedge issue in an election year, but backers say they are only looking for fairness, according to the Denver Post.
