GOLDEN, Colo.—The National Renewable Energy Laboratory has earned the highest rating possible from the national “green” building program.
NREL officials say the new research support facility at the complex in Golden has been certified platinum by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. The ratings are based on credits in such areas as water efficiency, energy, materials and resources and the quality of the indoor environment.
The building at NREL is 222,000 square feet. Officials say the facility earned the highest score of the 10 new federal buildings that have been certified platinum by the nonprofit U.S. Green Building Council.
