Trent Hix, the serial bank robber known as the “JV Bandit” for the sports apparel he wore during heists, was sentenced to 57 months in federal prison this week, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced.

Hix, 38, was arrested in January after he was recognized standing in line at a bank about four blocks from his Wheat Ridge home. Police said at the time that he was unemployed and living with his mother.

He doesn’t have a car and robbed banks within walking distance of his home dating back to October 2008, police said. Hix was suspected in eight metro heists.
