A 63-year-old man escaped death while kayaking in Eagle County today.
The Eagle County Sheriff’s Department did not name the man who rolled his kayak in a pond near the Eagle-Vail Pavilion and became trapped underwater at about 1 p.m.
He was not breathing when three witnesses jumped in, pulled him to shore and began CPR.
The man “was transported to a nearby hospital where he has made a full recovery,” the Sheriff’s Department stated.
“The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office would like to acknowledge the efforts of the three bystanders who acted without hesitation to rescue the male party,” the department stated in a media release.
