The 23-year-old Colorado National Speedway late-models driver from Greeley captured his series-leading third feature victory of the season Saturday — a week after finishing last because of a broken camshaft.
“It didn’t really hurt the motor; just had to put a new one in,” Bucklen said of his worst-to-first turnaround. “To come back and win felt good. We’ve kind of been struggling a little bit lately. It was good to know we still had it in us.”
Bucklen, a graduate of Greeley’s Dayspring Christian Academy, is fourth in the standings, 27 points behind Greeley-based veteran Bruce Yackey. Bucklen is in his eighth year of competing at CNS, including the past six in late models.
“We changed a lot of things this year,” Bucklen said. “We’re 25 horse(power) up from what we’ve had in the past. Everything has really come together.”

ON THE MOVE: KURT BUSCH
Win, kiss and then tell
By winning last week’s NASCAR Sprint Cup road-course race in Sonoma, Calif., Busch gained three positions in the point standings — including overtaking his younger brother, Kyle Busch — heading into this week’s Coke Zero 400 at Daytona. Kurt Busch started third at the season-opening Daytona 500 and finished fifth. Also this week, Busch announced he was getting a divorce from his wife, Eva Bryan. The couple married in 2006, but he was asked about his marital status Thursday, four days after he kissed another woman in Victory Lane last week at Sonoma.
