A 13-year-old girl who arrived in Denver this week thinking she had rare, flesh-eating bacteria has been cleared by doctors at National Jewish Health, who found she never had the bacteria after all. Hannele Cox won’t need antibiotics, and definitely not surgery.
Hannele accidentally cut herself on a small fish tank five years ago, and family doctors believed that was when she became infected.
National Jewish determined instead that there are problems with Hannele’s nerves in her hand and have referred her to doctors back home in California. The Denver Post
