A Denver woman hiking in the mountains of Colorado was killed Thursday when she fell into a chute on Mount Princeton.

Chaffee County coroner Randal Amettis identified the victim as 30-year-old DeAnna Miller.

Dispatchers received a cellphone call from her hiking companion about 1:15 p.m., saying a woman had fallen just below the summit. A rescue team hiked up the mountain in stormy weather and arrived about 5:30 p.m. Miller was dead when they arrived.

Meanwhile, also in Chaffee County, the search continued Friday for a Boulder doctor, Michael Von Gortler, 53, and his daughter, 20-year-old Makana, who failed to return from a planned hiking trip on Missouri Mountain.

Family members have not heard from the pair since June 21; they were supposed to return a week ago.

Von Gortler’s pickup was found parked at the trailhead to the mountain, and searchers have been concentrating on the area since.
