SNOWMASS VILLAGE, Colo.—Fossil excavation at an Ice Age site near Snowmass Village is wrapping up this weekend with a long list of discoveries.
The Denver Museum of Nature & Science says more than 4,500 fossils and 20 different animals have been recovered.
Project leader Kirk Johnson says most of the work will end Friday, but the museum will continue work analyzing the finds for years and a few scientists will stick around to see if there are any more discoveries.
The excavation is ending so construction can resume on Ziegler Reservoir.
