Two people were aboard a plane that crashed in Custer County on Sunday afternoon sparking a 40-acre wildfire, according to local and federal authorities.
The Federal Aviation Administration initially said two people were killed. Television stations in Colorado Springs reported one person was killed and another was taken to the hospital.
A spokeswoman for the Custer County Sheriff’s Department said no information regarding those aboard would be released Sunday night.
The crash about 4 p.m. caused a wildfire near Colorado Highway 96 and Custer County Road 358 on the edge of the San Isabel National Forest, according to the sheriff’s department.
The Federal Aviation Administration has not yet released information about the plane, its pilot and passenger, or its destination. The Denver Post
