Fireworks were blamed for a series of fires today as police and firefighters scrambled to respond to a high volume of fireworks-related calls and noise complaints.
In Greeley, fire officials said kids playing with fireworks were suspected of causing a blaze that caused extensive damage to a single-family home.
When firefighters arrived to the home on the 1700 block of East Seventh Avenue they found the front porch engulfed in flames.
A woman was inside the house, while two kids estimated to be about 10 years old were outside playing with fireworks, the Greeley Tribune reported.
No people were injured, but firefighters recovered two dead dogs from inside the home, according to the Tribune.
Fireworks also were suspected in several structure and grass fires in metro Denver, including a commercial building on the 3800 block of Newport Street in Denver and an attic fire that caused considerable damage to a home in the 4700 block of Crystal Street in Denver.
