DENVER—Members of the new Colorado Parks and Wildlife Board have chosen their officers in their first meeting since the former Colorado Division of Wildlife and Colorado State Parks merged July 1.
Gov. John Hickenlooper had suggested the merger with hopes of saving the state $3 million to $4 million a year. The Parks and Wildlife Board will set policies for the new Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife.
The former wildlife division was guided by the Colorado Wildlife Commission, which had nine voting members. State Parks had a five-member board.
On Thursday, members of the new 14-member Parks and Wildlife Board discussed how they would function. They also elected former Wildlife Commission Chairman Tim Glenn as their chairman and former State Parks Board Chairman Gary Butterworth as vice chairman.
