O’Neal promoted to head coach.
Defensive coordinator Heron O’Neal has been promoted to head coach of the Colorado Ice for the 2012 Indoor Football League season by general manager Collins Sanders.
O’Neal came to the Ice last season after spending five seasons as head coach for the Billings (Mont.) Outlaws, the IFL champions in 2009 and 2010.
The move allows Sanders, last season’s coach, to focus on the day-to-day operations.
