The NHRA top fuel driver is having a career year, sitting atop the point standings with a sparkling 24-6 elimination-round record heading into this weekend’s race in Joliet, Ill.
The circuit’s ensuing event is July 22-24 — the Mopar Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison.
Worsham, 41, has produced each of his four career top fuel victories in the Al-Anabi Racing dragster this year, after mostly driving his family- owned funny car in his first 18 years on the circuit.
In 1991 at age 21, Worsham became the youngest driver to win a funny car event and was named NHRA rookie of the year. His current season includes a 4-1 record in the finals, two semifinal appearances and no DNQs in 10 races.
