A 30-year-old Commerce City man was found shot to death Saturday morning in Weld County, near railroad tracks about 50 yards from Interstate 76.
The Weld County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim Saturday evening as Armando Mata-Magallanes and said investigators are looking for the car he was last seen driving: a 1983 blue Volkswagen Rabbit, license plate 633WUJ.
“We are investigating his death as a homicide,” said Maggie Martinez, a spokeswoman for the sheriff.
The killing apparently took place by the tracks, out of sight from the nearby interstate.
“The crime scene is where he was found,” Martinez said.
Because his body was not visible from the highway, the victim was first spotted by a train engineer.
